When Voyagers 10 and 11 were shot into outer space in 1977, each carried a gold audio disc of sounds and images that portrayed life on earth.
Selected by a committee, The Golden Record held a collection of pictures, music and sounds from earth, and greetings in 55 language — described as the sounds of the earth.
The archive was compiled for ‘spacefaring civilizations in interstellar space‘ who might encounter the spacecrafts as they travelled through interstellar space.
Where are the Voyagers now and where will they be in another 40 years?
